19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.
Medvedev, a former world number one, has experienced a challenging season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.
His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents the player's first trophy since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court from spring of 2023.
Success also means Medvedev has secured 21 championships at 21 different events.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my children at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, including in that event earlier this year.
The player's retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to doubt if his ability to compete at the top level was over.
But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
Both players swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden tour victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.
Moutet saved 4 initial break points in a competitive third set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.
Suitably, he secured the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet unable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
